Dusty Springfield – Dusty In Memphis – Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 Series 45 rpm 180g Vinyl

£45.00
Dusty Springfield shares rarified air with the top soul/R&B queens of the post-WWII era — Aretha Franklin, Etta James, and others.
Originally released in 1969, the concept for Dusty In Memphis was to take England's reigning female soul queen to the home of the music which had inspired her. Produced by Atlantic's Jerry Wexler and Arif Mardin and engineered by Tom Dowd, the record's highlights include "Son Of A Preacher Man," "So Much Love," "Breakfast In Bed," "Just One Smile," "I Don't Want To Hear It Anymore" and "Just A Little Lovin'".

ART PEPPER + Eleven – Contemporary Records (Acoustic Sounds Series)180g Vinyl

£48.00
Throughout the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s, Lester Koenig’s artist-friendly Los Angeles-based audiophile jazz label documented career-defining performances by some of modern jazz’s most influential and accomplished improvisers, including Ornette Coleman, Sonny Rollins, Harold Land and Benny Golson. No musician is more closely identified with Contemporary than Pepper, whose cool tone and simmering lyricism made him one of the very few mid-century alto saxophonists to forge a path independent of bebop patriarch Charlie Parker’s pervasive influence. Produced by Koenig and recorded in 1959, Art Pepper +Eleven: Modern Jazz Classics is one of the saxophonist’s masterpieces. Featuring brilliant arrangements by Marty Paich, the album elaborates on the lush but lithe sound introduced by the epochal Birth of the Cool sessions, which Miles Davis started to record almost exactly a decade earlier (like Birth, +Eleven kick offs with Denzil Best’s “Move”). Surrounded by the cream of the LA scene, including fellow saxophone masters Herb Geller, Bill Perkins and Med Flory, Pepper brings all his scorching lyricism to a program of modern jazz standards by Horace Silver, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mulligan and Sonny Rollins.

Duke Ellington & John Coltrane – Duke Ellington & John Coltrane 180g Analogue Productions Vinyl

£49.95
“Genius + Soul = Jazz is a winner, now sounding better than ever. I like this reissue so much I’ll probably not play my original again since it isn’t in quite as nice condition. In fact, I’m not sure if I really need to even keep my original in the collection at this point given the quality of this reissue. And that is probably the best complement I can offer.” — Mark Smotroff, Audiophile Review, May 17, 2021.

Miles Davis – Bitches Brew – MoFi Ultradisc 180g 2LP Box Set

THE AURAL MOUNT RUSHMORE OF JAZZ FUSION: MASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES, PRESSED AT RTI ON MOFI SUPERVINYL, AND HOUSED IN A LAVISH BOX "Listen to This." As the original working title for Bitches Brew, the instruction and invitation resonates to this day as the best way to approach a record that shattered conventions, altered music history, and, more than 50 years later, still sounds far ahead of its time. The aural Mount Rushmore of jazz fusion, Bitches Brew is rightly ranked by virtually every significant press outlet among the 100 greatest albums ever made. Sewn together with vibrant colors, voodoo textures, and ethereal moods, the 1970 landmark emerges with supreme detail and nonpareil feeling on Mobile Fidelity's UltraDisc One-Step 180g 2LP vinyl box set. Mastered from the original master tapes, pressed on MoFi SuperVinyl at RTI, and strictly numbered and limited, this definitive reissue enhances every element of a double album that established new possibilities for studio recording techniques. You'll hear wider and deeper soundstages, more separation between instruments, and a drastically broadened dynamic range. If ever a jazz album can be said to have gone to outer space and back, this is it.
