Peter, Paul & Mary – Album 1700 – Analogue Productions 180g 45 RPM Vinyl

£75.00
This is a phenomenal reissue of a significant album for the famed folk rock trio. Album 1700, released in 1967, yielded the group's final hit single (and only No. 1), "Leaving on a Jet Plane." It also yielded graceful folk-rock trappings for their repertoire of originals and covers by, among others, Bob Dylan and Eric Anderson, writes David Wolf for Amazon.com.

Petteri Iivonen: J.S. Bach Partita No. 2 in D Minor 180g 45RPM Vinyl

£49.95
After living a number of years in the United States, GRAMMY® and ICMA Nominated Finnish violinist Petteri Iivonen returned to Europe where he became concertmaster of the Finnish Opera orchestra in Helsinki before moving to Paris to serve as concertmaster for the Paris Opera. Petteri's ability to play in many styles with sincerity and his natural lyrical facility with his instrument made him the ideal candidate to work with luminary conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen in Helsinki and now Gustavo Dudamel at Paris Opera.

Pharoah Sanders – Shukuru – Pure Pleasure Records 180g Vinyl LP

£39.95
Pharoah Sanders’ “Shukuru” is noteworthy as being the album that reunited Sanders with vocalist Leon Thomas, who sang on some of Sanders’ most endearing and powerful compositions– among them the legendary “The Creator Has a Masterplan”. Thomas only joins the band on two tracks– “Mas in Brooklyn (Highlife)” and “Sun Song”. The former gets a full calypso reading complete with steel drum sounds and chanted vocals traded between Sanders and Thomas. It’s a lot of fun, but by and large, throwaway. The latter is one of the true gems on the album– a pretty ballad that serves as both a launching point for Sanders’ best balladry and Thomas’ vocal, with the latter soaring in his upper register wordlessly between verses intoned in his trademark baritone. It’s by and large simply stunning.

Rahsaan Roland Kirk: Blacknuss

£29.95
From its opening bars, with Bill Salter’s bass and Rahsaan’s flute passionately playing Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine”, you know this isn’t an ordinary Kirk album (were any of them?). As the string section, electric piano, percussion, and Cornel Dupree’s guitar slip in the back door, one can feel the deep soul groove Kirk is bringing to the jazz fore here.

Recorded by a virtually unknown singer-songwriter who had once been rejected by every major label, and bolstered by production and arrangements that spotlight Travis' impeccable vocals, Storms of Life spurred a stylistic sea change that would soon sweep Nashville and place the North Carolina native at the center of the neotraditionalist movement. More than three decades later, the LP's brilliance looms larger than ever.
