Mastered From The Original Master Tapes: Sacd Presents The Music's Hallmark Smoothness, Lushness, And Detail In Reference Sound
The opening track to the Alan Parsons Project's Eye in the Sky remains the most recognized instrumental in sports – fanfare inseparably tied with introducing NBA legend Michael Jordan and his six-time world-champion Chicago Bulls mates before games, and still used by many teams as an energy-raising prelude. Indeed, the subdued grandiosity, cosmic bluster, and lights-out wonder of "Sirius" also sets the table for the band's smash 1982 album, whose hallmark smoothness, lushness, and balance reach epic heights on Mobile Fidelity's reissue.

Bill Evans and Jim Hall – Undercurrent Mobile Fidelity Vinyl

£55.00

Diverse Set Encompasses Ballads, Waltzes, Hard-Swinging Bop

Bill Evans catapulted to the top of the jazz world in June 1961 after reeling off three straight masterpiece sessions at New York's Village Vanguard with his trio. Yet the emotional highs came to a screeching halt shortly thereafter when bassist Scott LaFaro died in a car accident. Devastated, Evans refrained from playing for nearly a year. If not for an inspirational collaboration of tremendous creative outpouring, one wonders what fate may have befallen Evans. Undercurrent, the outcome of two studio sessions with guitarist Jim Hall, is that project.

£79.95

Mainstream Perfection: Melodic Devices, Passionate Singing, Sophisticated Arrangements, Jazzy Backdrop Walk Down 52nd Street

Some artists embrace their success by repeating the steps that originally granted them fame. Billy Joel did the opposite, refusing to be contained by prescribed approaches or constrained by a given label. The follow-up to the breakthrough TI, 52nd Street further expands on its predecessor’s bold production techniques and inventive arrangements, incorporating more sophisticated textures as well as reflecting a jazz edge gleaned from New York City’s thriving club scene.

Don’t call it a comeback. Not only did Blood, Sweat & Tears’ eponymous album establish new precedents for musical fusion and record production upon release in late 1968, the quadruple-platinum set marked a new commercial beginning for a cross-cultural group nearly decimated months earlier when its prominent co-founder, Al Kooper, departed along with two other members. The resultant sophomore effort simply went on to top the charts for seven straight weeks, earn the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, spawn three successive Top 5 singles, and land the group a headlining slot at Woodstock. No wonder its reputation remains golden among listeners, particularly audiophiles, which have never experienced the hybrid fare in more vibrant fashion than on this collectible reissue.

Bob Dylan – Another Side of Bob Dylan – 180g 45RPM 2LP Mofi Vinyl (Gold Strip)

£75.00
1/4" / 15 IPS analog master to DSD 256 to analog console to lathe
The ever-evasive Bob Dylan never explicitly stated exactly what represented the "another side" of himself referenced in the title to his second 1964 record. Yet the whimsical moods, hallucinogenic prose, humorous angles, transparent mistakes, and noncommittal themes give a pretty clear idea at what the Bard hinted as he emerged from being labeled as a reluctant generation spokesperson and folk savior after releasing two highly intellectual, socially pioneering sets replete with protest songs. Dylan needed to take a breath, step back from the drama, and reevaluate his surroundings.

Bob Dylan – Nashville Skyline 180g 45RPM 2LP Mofi Vinyl

£90.00

Hyper-Detailed 45RPM Version Allows You to Experience Dylan's All-Time Cleanest Vocal Performances Like Never Before: Soft, Smooth Croon a Dramatic Change from His Past

For an artist whose career is flush with enigma, myth, and disguise, Nashville Skyline still surprises more than almost any other Bob Dylan move more than four decades after its original release. Distinguished from every other Dylan album by virtue of the smooth vocal performances and simple ease, the 1969 record witnesses the icon's full-on foray into country and trailblazing of the country-rock movement that followed. Cozy, charming, and warm, the rustic set remains for many hardcore fans the Bard's most enjoyable effort. And most inimitable. The result of quitting smoking, Dylan's voice is in pristine shape, nearly unidentifiable from the nasal wheeze and folk accents displayed on prior records.

Understated 1962 Debut Launched Immeasurably Influential Career: Inspired by Woody Guthrie and Blues Legends, Clearest Connection to Dylan’s Purist Folk Roots
Made when mono was still king, Bob Dylan’s self-titled 1962 debut is as understated of an entrance as any significant musician as ever made. Already well-versed in American roots music, Dylan simultaneously pays homage to tradition and extends it by putting his own stamp on classic material that metaphorically functions as the soil of our contemporary songs and styles. Free of ego, and performed with masterful conviction, Bob Dylan ranks with the debut efforts of similar artistic giants Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones.

Bob Dylan – Oh Mercy Hybrid SACD

£39.95
Mastered on Mobile Fidelity’s world-renowned mastering system and strictly limited to 3,000 numbered copies, Oh Mercy now takes on cinematic qualities worthy of Lanois’ production and Dylan’s performances. On SACD, the music benefits from a spaciousness, tonality, and surrealism no prior edition delivers. Each note seems to occupy its own physical dimension, allowing Oh Mercy to simultaneously immerse and surround you. Its clarity, dynamics, and extension also reach new heights throughout – whether it’s the low-end reach on the spiritual-minded “Ring Them Bells” or combination of guitar-chord treble and piano decay on “Disease of Conceit.”

Bob Dylan – Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid Hybrid SACD

£42.00
Mastered from the original master tapes on Mobile Fidelity’s world-renowned mastering system, and strictly limited to 2,500 numbered copies, this hybrid SACD features reference-level instrumental separation and full-bodied tones that allow the songs to blossom amidst soundstages whose dimensions are limited only by the breadth of your stereo system. The flinty, raw acoustic edge of Dylan and Bruce Langhorne’s guitars come into immediate relief. Booker T. Jones’ relaxed albeit taut bass, Jolly Roger’s down-home banjo, Russ Kunkel’s textured bongos, and the crucial string accompaniments similarly flourish.

£165.00
IN STOCK NOW!
MASTERED FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTER TAPES AND LIMITED TO 10,000 COPIES Julian Cannonball Adderley's only Blue Note album, Somethin' Else, would likely forever be famous in music lore if just for the presence of Miles Davis. The iconic composer/trumpeter steps into the role of sideman on the 1958 set, one of just a handful of times he'd make such a move after the calendar passed the mid-1950s. Yet evaluating Somethin' Else strictly on Davis' involvement misses the big picture. Plain and simple, Adderley's jubilant work remains a jazz landmark due to the chemistry of its Hall of Fame personnel, enthusiasm of its participants, and sophistication of its arrangements – not to mention the reference-grade production and inclusion of the definitive renditions of two all-time jazz standards.
